The May meeting will be the first Monday, May 3rd 7:30 to 9:00 pm at the Hope Lutheran Church, 5700 98th Street. This month the meeting will be "Narrow gauge railroading preservation today and preservation projects currently undertaken for future generations" by Cole Adams

Thanks to everyone who helped with the Arts Festival. Also thanks to Allen Hagens and Dave Hunt for the DCC and sound installation clinic last month.

Homer L. Morrow

Celebration of Life services for Homer L. Morrow, 85, of Lubbock, will be (was) held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Stephanie Nash officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive guests this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home. Homer died on Saturday, April 10, 2010 in Lubbock.
He was born on Dec. 26, 1924, in Salem, Ark., to the late Homer and Georgia (Pearson) Morrow. He married the love of his life, Yvonne Leslie, on Oct. 19, 1944 in Lubbock, Texas. Homer served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. He worked in the building trades for 10 years and then began his career with the Burlington Northern Railroad as a telegraph operator and then later in computer communications. He retired on May 31, 1987 after 31 years. Homer was ordained as a deacon in 1952 and helped start the first church baseball league in Lubbock. He enjoyed building model airplanes, model railroading, computers, country and western dancing and photography. He was an avid bird hunter and camper. He received his solo pilot's license and later completed railroad school in Kansas City, Mo. Homer was a member of the Lubbock Model Railroad Association.
He was preceded in death by his son, Scotty Morrow; stepmother, Ocie Morrow; two sisters, Frances Caruthers and Eunice Epperson; and a brother, Richard Morrow.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 65 years, Yvonne; sons, Les and wife Lupe Morrow and Jay Morrow; and daughter, Karinne and husband Sam Truelock, all of Lubbock; daughter-in-law, Becky Morrow of Tomball; sisters, Juanita Young of Inola, Okla., June Lindsey of Springdale, Ark. and Jimmie Fay Case of Ft. Smith, Ark.; brothers, Ray Taylor of Seattle, Wash., Gary Morrow of Bentonville, Ark. and Tommy Morrow of Bentonville, Ark.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels or The Second Baptist Building Fund.
